CHIBAMBA KANYAMA ADDRESSES UNCTAD |

Economist and Zambian Breweries Group Corporate Affairs Director Chibamba Kanyama will this week be among the world economic experts attending the Expert Annual Meetings organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)in Geneva Switzerland. Kanyama will be addressing the meeting on the SUBJECT, 'Promoting Innovative Entreprenuership in Africa' with a specific focus on Zambia. The areas Kanyama will cover include: - Government policy requirements for the promotion of enterprise development such as the simplification of the legal environment for business promotion and this includes licensing structures; national empowerment programmes in which financing, fiscal incentives and training programmes play a key role; establishment of entrepreneurship/industrial clusters for the incubation of entrepreneurs.
- The drivers of entrepreneurship which focuses on value systems such as culture religion, national economic ideology and the educational system; the promotion of entrepreneurship education in schools; promotion of free market systems to allow for effective investment, access to markets, good pricing structures and effective resource employment
- The promotion of business linkages in Zambia through which multinational corporations such as Zambian Breweries should develop strong supply chains affecting small local entreprenuers. Through this, small enterprises will enhance there business practices in areas like corporate governance, business culture, competitiveness and efficiency.
And speaking about the meeting Kanyama says, "The promotion of investment in Zambia is not solely the responsibility of the President or government agencies. We as private citizens or private sector should leverage on any such platforms to highlight business opportunities in Zambia."
The Expert Meetings start on 19th and end on 22nd January, 2010. Kanyama will also chair special sessions looking at developing business and investment in Africa.
